A four-year standout for the Georgia Bulldogs, Blankenship became one of the most accomplished kickers in college football history. The Marietta, Georgia native finished his Georgia career as the program's all-time leading scorer with 440 points, making 80 of 97 field-goal attempts and all 200 of his extra-point attempts.
Blankenship's senior season cemented his place among the college game's best. He won the 2019 Lou Groza Award as the nation's top placekicker, earned First Team All-America honors, was named First Team All-SEC, and helped Georgia win the SEC Eastern Division for the third consecutive season.
Known for his signature glasses and remarkable consistency, Blankenship also set a Rose Bowl record with a 55-yard field goal and went a perfect 200-for-200 on extra points during his Georgia career. He later became the starting kicker for the Indianapolis Colts as a rookie in 2020.
