After transferring from George Mason, Hancock became a key piece of the Louisville Cardinals during the 2012-14 seasons. His defining moment came during the 2013 NCAA Tournament, when he helped lead Louisville to a national championship and was named the Final Four Most Outstanding Player. He became the first non-starter in NCAA Tournament history to earn the honor.
Hancock was at his best on college basketball's biggest stage. He scored 20 points against Wichita State in the national semifinal before exploding for 22 points against Michigan in the championship game, where he went a perfect 5-for-5 from three-point range. He made eight three-pointers across the two Final Four games, tying the Final Four record at the time.
